Airline baggage charges

I am just back from Orlando, flying American Airlines from Chicago.  I went with a carry on bag because I am too cheap to pay the checked baggage fee.  Of course, everyone else is thinking the same thing so bin space was definitely at a premium.  American charges $!5 for the first bag and $25 for the second.  At this point Southwest and now Air Canada are the only ones not charging for checked bags.  If you need a list of what each carrier is charging, contact me.

My point to this post is that I was at a trade show where there were several vendors who are in the business of luggage delivery.  They will pick up the bags and deliver the bags to your destination, for a fee of course.  The charges vary but considering the convenience of not having to deal with the bags, I think they may be on to something.  The Luggage Club has a plan offering ten one way deliveries (one 70 pound item) for $795.  That may seem like a lot but if you are checking 2 bags you would be paying $40-50 plus lugging them around.   A fair price to pay for convenience, I would say.
